Great song, I wonder why it hasn’t been posted before..

This tab has only guitar 1 (Alec Ounsworth). Guitar 2 is playing something else, which
actually makes it sound like there are 4 chords in the verses instead of just D and G.

I know there are some errors and I don’t think all the chords are right
(e.g. the first bridge). This should get you started anyway.

I transcribed this from the performance in Conan O’Brien show 12/16/2005.

Chords used:
D: xx0232
G: 320003
Bm: x24432
A: x02220
Asus4: x02230
Dsus2: x57755
Bmaj: x7765x
Gmaj: x5543x
Amaj: x7765x
D2: x57775
G2: 355433
Bm2: 799777
A2: 577655

intro: D, G (4x)

verse 1:
Blue, you radiant blue I don’t know how you can stand next to me
You you talk like a noose and only confuse my perplexity

Now that I’m so sad and not quite right
I could dance all night
I could dance all night

verse 2:
Shake your rattle-snake skin and become a part of society
Wait on down the highway to see how far I’ll come a-run a-run run running
All that we have salvaged from the fire
was a waste of time
What a waste of time

Bm, A Asus4 A, G, A Asus4 A

Bridge 1 (pick):

Should I trust all the rust that’s on TV (should I trust all the rust that’s on TV)
I guess with some distase I disagree (with some distase I disagree)
With quite a fashionable dispassion for the dispossessed under-stressed (aah, ooaah)
Gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme (aah, aah)
And I don’t care if you don’t like or just don’t see that

Verse 3:
Now that we’ve fattened the cow and set out to plow unknown enemies
”Wow!” Shouts the startled crowd “How now did you see what I did see?”
The ravaged cabbage drifts on dark red skies
And it looks so nice
Gee it looks so nice

Bridge 2 (pick):
Shout just let it on out confusion becomes a philosophy
Down we’re reaching the town where we don’t have to stand around and look over our shoulders
(strum:)
Hell, I never knew was what we made it lets just take it slow
in this home on ice
in this home on ice
in this home on ice
in this home on-iiiieeee

outro:
Bm, A Asus4 A, G, A Asus4 A
D, G, D, G, Bm, A Asus4 A, G, A Asus4 A, D
