What About Me by Keith Urban Guitar Chords

Standard tuning, Capo 2nd fret.

My version of this tune played at Capo 2. To my ear, this sounds more like the chord voicings being used,
though I’ve never seen KU play this song. I’ve seen this tabbed in E but it feels too dark to me down
that low. Try this and see what you think.

For added flavor, especially if you play solo, try barring the B and G strings second fret behind the B
string third fret during the D5 chord and lifting the third fret to play sort of a Dsus2(maj7). This
mimicks the feel of the banjo line and adds a lot of texture to the long holds in the D5.
I play with a lot of palm muting to control the percusive feel of the song, then open it up to let it
breath at the start of the second verse where the snare and bass come in full. I also try to keep the
high E muted except in the full bar chords…it tends to ring out and fight the feel of
the song.

Watch for the last chord of the second chorus…it lands on Bm to start the lead section. There’s also a
walk up in the closing measures…see brackets…that’s played on single strings (E & A) and resolves
to the D5. Playing the full chords here gets a bit messy.

Intro D5 G D5 G

I’m livin’ in a world that won’t stop pullin’ on me,
I’m not complaining but it’s true.
It’s like I owe my time to everyone else,
‘Cause that’s all I seem to do.

You might not notice but I need a good friend,
Someone to talk to when I’m down, down, down.
There’s so much on my mind that I wanna get out,
But there’s no one around.

Sometimes I can’t help thinkin’ what about me?
Some days go by that I don’t even see.
Yeah I’m doing everything right and I can’t break free.
Oh is this the way it’s always gonna be?
What about me

Well I’m dreamin’ I’m on a highway with the windows down,
I’m burnin’ up the road at my own speed.
But I’m stuck here goin’ nowhere in this traffic jam,
And there’s a woman with her kids in the car next to me…
And I swear she’s singin:

Sometimes I can’t help thinkin’ what about me?
Some days go by that I don’t even see.
Yeah I’m doing everything right and I can’t break free.
Is this the way it’s always gonna be?
Hey, what about me?

Oh, sometimes I can’t help thinkin’ what about me?
Some days go by that I don’t even see.
I’m doing everything right and I can’t break free.
Oh is this the way it’s always gonna be?
What about me
Ooo what about me?
